Today, manufacturing accounts for 25% of U.S. energy consumption at a cost of $150 billion. Industry is the 3rd largest contributor to U.S. greenhouse gas emissions at 22%. REMADE's experts & partners are working to reduce these amounts.
A $140M, 130-member public-private partnership, REMADE Institute funds & accelerates the U.S. transition to a Circular Economy through development of cutting-edge sustainable manufacturing technologies to make real, near-term environmental and economic impacts.
The concept of circularity has become extremely popular in the building & construction industry, but it seems more AECOs are asking for circular building materials than manufacturers (MFR) know what or how to deliver. MFRs are trying to figure out what this means for them.
Circularity is a business decision. For example, just because a product can be remanufactured doesn’t mean the MFR has the know-how and logistics to get it done. That’s why we want you to know about REMADE. Learn about the work happening there, the big hard system problems getting addressed – and get excited about changing manufacturing!
REMADE Focus Areas
REMADE’s focus on accelerating the circular economy through technological solutions is grounded in five areas of concentration. This framework allows the Institute to address the cross-cutting challenges that occur at each stage of the material life cycle.
REMADE is charged with finding new and less expensive ways to reuse, recycle and remanufacture metals, fibers, polymers and electronic waste. The Institute leverages $70 million in federal funding from the DOE matched by $70 million in private cost-share commitments from industry, consortium members and partners.
