Indoor air: Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are emitted as gases from certain solids or liquids. VOCs include a variety of chemicals, some of which may have adverse health effects. Concentrations of VOCs can be up to ten times higher indoors than outdoors. USG tests products for VOC emissions by using the stringent California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Standard Method 01350 v1.1-2010 and obtaining the UL Greenguard Gold certification.

Recycled content: During manufacturing, we continuously strive to use the least amount of resources needed while maintaining superior quality. USG found innovative ways to transform manufacturing byproducts into valuable new resources.

Environmental transparency: An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) provides third party verified product data around a product’s life cycle. The EPD data can be used to better understand each stage of product manufacturing and may be used to generate a building LCA or see the overall embodied carbon of products.

Health transparency: We spend most of our time indoors, so breathing healthy air where we live is critical. Knowing what ingredients are in the products we use in our indoor environment is vital to making informed decisions about our health. USG discloses ingredients in products down to 100 ppm and uses Health Product Declarations (HPDs) and Declare labels.
